Born in Memphis and raised here in Jacksonville, Andy Peters’ discovery of glass was architected by his mother as a means to get him into something more social during high school. He took a class on the weekends at Jacksonville University, got the "glass bug," continued to go to JU for more classes, and eventually college. Since graduating with an art minor, he has worked in various private studio

s and the social side of his wise mother's plan was fully realized when he met his wife, Jessica MacDonald, at a glass artists convention. She studied glass art & design in her native Montreal, with a focus on sculptural cast glass. Together, they have opened a studio, Burnt Glassworks, and are excited about future glass projects. Their current output includes upscale barware, tumblers made of recycled beer bottles and an assortment of colorful vases & bowls.

We are going to bring out our smaller mobile studio to the Riverside Arts Market on 7/4 for some live glassblowing demos! We'll be on site when the market starts at 10 am, but the first demo will be at 11 am, with one every 40 min.

Demos will start at:
11:00 am
11:40 am
12:20 pm
1:00 pm
1:40 pm

We are limited on size with the mini furnace, but plan to make some interesting items. Come out and watch, and ask lots of questions!

Plus, don't forget that RAM is a great spot to watch the fireworks, and some vendors and food trucks are going to be there through the evening. For more info, visit https://riversideartsmarket.org/press/ram-july-fourth-2026/

New hands-on workshop option - floats!

As some of you may know, we've had the pleasure of making some floats for the Jekyll Island Authority for the past 2 years, and some of ours were even included in the batch that were hidden for the 2026 Island Treasures event. We've had a few people reach out to see if we offer this as a hands-on workshop option, so we've decide to add this for select dates. As the regular 6" ones we produce for Jekyll Island require a more glass than we can comfortably handle in a hands-on workshop setting, these will be offered in two sizes as noted below, and will have a shell shaped stamp on the bottom.

Medium fishing float workshop - $65 each
(final size approximately 4.75" in diameter)

Small fishing float workshop - $48 each
(final size approximately 3.75" in diameter)

Make a handblown glass reproduction fishing float with professional assistance! Blow and shape your float, and then add a flat pad of glass to seal the bubble, for a fun hands-on experience in the glass studio.

Book online at https://burnt-glassworks.square.site/

Never heard of Island Treasures? The event is over for 2026, but will be back in Jan-Feb 2027 and you can find more info at https://www.jekyllisland.com/signature-events/island-treasures/
