“Remember how far you’ve come, not how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be.” ~Rick Warren
Sometimes our future self can seem so far away. Our goals are these big dreams that we seem to constantly chase. However, what about all the small dreams we’ve accomplished along the way? Its possible to look at our past with love and appreciation. We’re often so focused on living in the present that we forget to be mindful of where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. Maybe it feels like we’re bragging or that we don’t have a right to be proud of the things we’ve done. Maybe we have this feeling that we shouldn’t be proud of the things we’ve accomplished because we aren’t where we want to be. This simply isn’t true. It’s ok to look back and feel a sense of pride. When we speak to ourselves and form a connection with our past, it can be groundbreaking. Experience the feelings of gratitude for what you have done and overcome. Life isn’t easy, but you’re still here. You may have a long way to go, but I’m sure you’ve traveled further than you think. We’re all on a road to our own perfection, just don’t forget to congratulate your self along the way. Perfection is unattainable, but milestones are available every step of the way.
