Had it REOPENED, Jackson would be a very different place. When I Graduated in 1991, we didn't have all this division. So had it been open then, this city would have been booming. A diverse community with lots of jobs and activities for FAMILIES. Draining the lake was the most backwards decision I've ever seen... Only in Mississippi, would something like this happen, UNFORTUNATELY...

Lake Hico is one of the biggest 'what ifs' in Jackson, Mississippi history. Well, we know it would have gone to hell in a handbasket by now like 90% of the rest of the city, but I can't help but wonder if it had stayed open to the public and they had been protective about covenants and zoning around it, if they could have prevented the area around it from turning into a third-world hellhole? We'll never know, but it's always piqued my interest.
