Things to Ask Your Dancer!
Every dancer is different! Some love having their families watch them dance, while others feel more confident with a little privacy. Some love the mirrors, and others are still learning to feel comfortable in them. The best way to know what your dancer needs is to ask!
Here are some questions to help understand your dancer a little more!
FUN & LIGHTHEARTED
If you could teach me one dance move, what would it be?
If you could dance to ANY song, what would you choose?
What's your favorite part of dance class?
What's one move you wish you could master overnight?
CONFIDENCE & SELF-IMAGE
Do you like seeing yourself in the mirror while you dance, or does it sometimes make you feel nervous?
What's something about your dancing that you're proud of?
Do you ever compare yourself to other dancers? What helps you feel confident in your own progress?
When do you feel the most confident in class?
What's one thing you wish you could tell yourself on a hard dance day?
PARENT SUPPORT & CLASSROOM COMFORT
Do you prefer me to watch you dance, or do you feel more comfortable when I don't?
When dance feels hard, would you rather have encouragement, advice, or just a hug?
Do you like showing me what you're learning, or would you rather keep class as your own space?
What's one thing I can do to help you feel supported in dance?
GROWTH & BIG FEELINGS
Have you ever felt nervous or self-conscious in dance class? What helps?
What's something that feels easier now than it did when you first started dancing?
How do you feel when you make a mistake in class?
Is there anything about dance that feels intimidating or overwhelming sometimes?
What's one goal you're working toward that you're excited about?
There's no right or wrong answer! Our dancers are growing, learning, and building confidence in their own ways.
Let's keep creating an environment where every dancer feels seen, supported, and comfortable being themselves! 1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."
