From the creative and wacky mind of actor and playwright Jeff Daniels, who also wrote the smash hit Escanaba in ‘da Moonlight, comes PICKLEBALL.

Daniels was inspired to write the play after talking to, and mocking,
his wife who became obsessed with the game during Covid.

The play focuses on four below-average players who have an opportunity to compete in a local tournament, but first must learn to overcome their limitations and find greatness, in a game where there are no apologies and no excuses.

It’s a satirical look at the fastest-growing sport in America, a game that has nothing to do with pickles.

A few more floor boards to replace before we start on the set for Pickleball. If you can lend a hand, Ken will be at the amphitheatre on Wednesday. Bring gloves, a drill, whatever you think would come in handy. And if you aren't good at cutting and drilling, there is painting to do. Lunch and comp tickets to all those who volunteer their time.

Thank you to those who came out to our Clean Up Day at the Amphitheatre. It was a small but mighty group and the place is really shaping up for summer.
We are planning on holding one more “last push” on Saturday, the 30th, from 9a-2p. We can also use some strong bodies this Wednesday as we do some repair to the stage. Work begins at 9am and shouldn’t take more than a couple hours.

Hope to see you at our annual Clean Up Day at the Amphitheatre (1127 N. Main St, Jackson) tomorrow, Saturday, 5/16. We start at 10am and will go till about 2pm. Lunch provided for those who stick it out 😁, and everyone gets 2 tickets to our 2026 Summer Season.

So wear your grubby work clothes, bring some gloves, and maybe a hat. Weather shouldn't be bad, and we'll quit before it gets too hot. So whether you can roll out paint, rake the grounds, help rebuild terraces, or take a cleaning rag to the green room, all helping hands are appreciated. Hope to see you there!

Just a reminder — MSTW’s annual Clean Up Day is THIS SATURDAY!

Join the Main Street Theatre Works crew at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre as we prepare the grounds for our 2026 Summer Season, beginning June 19 with PICKLEBALL 🎭

⏰ 10AM–2PM
📍 Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre (1127 N. Main Street, Jackson, CA)

Many hands make light work — and no experience is needed.

While we’re tackling some repairs to the stage and terrace seating, we also need helping hands for general clean up around the amphitheatre. If you can use a broom, rake, or dust cloth, we’ve got a job for you!

Whether you can stay all day or just stop by for an hour or two, we’d love your help.

🍴 Lunch provided for volunteers who stay the full time
🎟️ All volunteers will receive TWO tickets to use for either summer show, any performance

Please invite your friends and family — and if you can’t make it, sharing this post helps more than you know. ❤️

ALL HANDS ON DECK!
Main Street Theatre Works needs your help to get the Amphitheatre ready for our Summer Season.

So much to do and so little time . . .
Main Street Theatre Works is putting out an urgent call to help us get the Amphitheatre in order before our first summer show, Pickleball, opens on June 19th. Being an outdoor venue has it’s challenges and the weather this year caused damage to our stage, as well as our terraces, and without those two things repaired, it’s going to be tough to have a Summer Season.

On Saturday, May 16th, we are asking for all able-bodied people to give us what time you can to help us replace some of the supports in the terrace seating. Also, one of the sidewalls on the stage blew down in one of the storms and needs to be righted and rebuilt, as well as repair to stage flooring on that same side. And, of course, there’s general clean up in and around the stage area. It sounds like a monumental task but many hands make light work.

Any and all help is needed and appreciated. We’ll be there at 10am on May 16th, and will go till about 2pm. If you stay the whole time, lunch will be provided. And if you can only give an hour or two, no judgment, we’ll be glad to have your help. And everyone will get two tickets to be used for either show, any performance.

Please invite friends and family. The more the merrier. And if you can’t make it, please share this info with others. Theatre is a team effort and now more than ever, we need a solid team. So grab a pair of work gloves, and any tools you think will be useful, and join us on Saturday, May 16th at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre ~ 1127 N. Main Street, Jackson, CA.
