Some artistic legacies are built one painting at a time. Others are built one generation at a time.

Our latest journal post looks at the story behind Douglas Fryer + David Dornan: In Good Company — and the larger tradition of art education in Utah that helped shape generations of Western artists.

From university studios at BYU, Utah State, and the University of Utah to the artist communities of Helper and Spring City, Fryer and Dornan are part of a culture where accomplished artists have continued to teach, mentor, and pass the discipline of painting forward.

That legacy runs directly through several artists represented by Altamira today.

Read the full story on our website and discover the history behind the exhibition.
