On Friday, July 24th, the Central Mississippi Coalition of Chapters partnered with the Southern Poverty Law Center to increase efforts across Mississippi and the nation, as Black men continue to shape elections, strengthen communities, and lead movements for justice. Yet too often, their voices are misunderstood, overlooked, or reduced to election-year talking points. This town hall challenged those narratives by examining the issues that matter most—from economic opportunity and education to voting rights, political representation, and community leadership.

Through this dynamic panel discussion featuring civic leaders, advocates, elected officials, and changemakers, we explored:

The true impact of the Black male vote on our democracy
Why Black men are often politically misunderstood
The barriers that continue to limit political power
How civic engagement extends beyond Election Day
What it will take to build the next generation of Black male leaders
