Congratulations to Ecuadorian composer Josué Plúa Trujillo for winning the 4th POI International Composition Competition! His work “Theme and Variations on a Danzante” will be premiered on June 12, at 7:00 pm at Millsaps College.

Josué Plúa is an award-winning pianist, composer, and orchestral transcriber, who has performed in major venues across Ecuador, Spain, and Colombia. He has collaborated with noteworthy conductors and participated in international festivals and competitions.

This year, we had 7 countries represented in the competition!
Ecuador, United States, Italy, Israel, Colombia, Germany, and Poland

The POI adjudicators included Crafton Beck, Dr. Andrew Sauerwein, and Nico Gutierrez.

Wednesday night's "Skyline Serenades:
Tango to the Balkans" was an absolute triumph!
Alejandro Drago, along with the POl guest artists and faculty, delivered a mesmerizing performance that had everyone on their feet. The blend of tango's fiery passion with the soulful sounds of the Balkans created a musical fusion that was both unique and unforgettable. Add to that the stunning backdrop of the Capital Towers Roof Top at sunset, and it was truly a magical evening!

Get ready to be blown away by some seriously amazing musicians! We’ve got Francisco Villa as our soloist, Michele Allegro with his piece that won the competition composition, and the one and only German Gutierrez leading and conducting this crazy talented group. Seriously, these players are top-notch musicians from all corners of the globe, and you absolutely do not want to miss hearing them work their magic!
