It’s time to make plans to attend the June 11th meeting of the Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts, beginning at 6 pm at the Daughtry Foundation Building, 221 College st. in Jackson.

Our hosts for June are Taylor Moncrief, Cheryl Hilderbrand and Kathrine Allen. The theme is appetizers and finger foods. They will provide egg rolls and bacon wrapped shrimp, sweet tea, 1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade, and water. All members are asked to bring appetizers or deserts that can be eaten without a knife and fork, plus any other beverage of their choosing.

Social time starts at 6, dinner at 6:30 and our program begins at 7. Our speaker, Michael Kurth is a bass player and occasional composer for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, music director of the critically acclaimed Ridibund Chamber Music Society, and Emory University Artist Affiliate.

Congratulations to Michael Farris and Anslie Atkinson, our 2026 Scholarship Winners!
Michael is a 2026 graduate of Jackson High School and will be attending Mercer University this Fall. He received our annual Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts Scholarship.
Anslie is a 2026 graduate of Jackson High School and will be attending Georgia Military College. She received the Dale Hill Memorial Scholarship.
Both awards were presented at Jackson High School Honors Night on May 14, 2026, at the Performing Arts Center.

It’s time to make plans to attend the May 14th meeting of the Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts, beginning at 6 pm at the Daughtry Foundation Building, 221 College st. in Jackson.

Our hosts for May are Candee Carmichael, Laura Richardson, and Pam Stevenson. They will provide pulled pork and smoked turkey from Blind Pig. In addition, they will provide, sweet tea, 1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade, and water. All members are asked to contribute Brunswick stew, appetizers, salads, side dishes and desserts to complete the meal, plus any other beverage of their choosing.

Social time starts at 6, dinner at 6:30 and our program begins at 7. Our speaker, Stacy Deline, is a metalsmith and will talk about her handmade jewelry.
