Here are the numbers.
Now that Drake has reportedly surpassed Michael Jackson for the most #1 singles by a solo male artist, the internet is debating whether Drake has officially entered MJ territory.
While many people acknowledge Drake’s chart dominance and streaming success, others argue the comparison stops there.
Critics point out that Michael Jackson’s impact went far beyond singles — with massive physical album sales, global cultural influence, stadium tours, and projects like *Thriller* becoming some of the highest-selling albums in music history.
Others also argue that the music industry was completely different during Michael Jackson’s era, when artists had to rely on physical album purchases, radio play, and television exposure instead of streaming platforms and playlist algorithms.
Now the debate has become bigger than just numbers.
Because while some people believe records are records no matter the era… others believe streaming has changed music so much that today’s chart success simply can’t be compared to what artists achieved decades ago.
So now the question is:
Does having more #1 hits make Drake bigger than Michael Jackson… or is MJ still in a completely different category?
What do you think?
