Join our new Salsa Casino and Afro-Cuban music and dance series taught by Adolfo Castillo, a renowned professional dancer from Cuba. All classes are held at TreeHouse Studio & Lounge, 119 S. Cayuga St 3rd floor, by the Ithaca Commons.

AFRO-CUBAN PERCUSSION
MONDAYS 6-7:15PM 4 WEEKS 10/12-11/2
Participants learn drumming and percussion technique, drawing on traditional and contemporary Afro-Cuban rhythms.

AFRO-CUBAN TRADITIONAL & FOLKLORIC DANCE
TUESDAYS 7:30-8:45PM 4 WEEKS 10/6-27
Connect to the rich traditions of Afro-Caribbean rhythm. Move your body with passion and flow to live drumming. Class is for all levels. Get ready to move, play, and challenge yourself!

SALSA CASINO LEVEL 1
WEDNESDAYS 6:30-7:30PM 4 WEEKS 10/14-11/4
This series introduces Casino, aka Cuban Salsa, preparing dancers for a journey into one of the world’s most dynamic social dances. The areas of focus are: 1) Posture, body movement, and style; 2) Rhythm, coordination, and projection; 3) Basic step, variations, dance positions, and movement; and 4) Core figures. Once students have progressed in these objectives, they progress to the next level, where more complex and stylish content is introduced.

SALSA CASINO LEVEL 2
WEDNESDAYS 7:40-8:40PM 4 WEEKS 10/14-11/4
Students strengthen their foundation from Level 1 while learning traditional Casino figures and modern variations, using clear transitions with spatial awareness. Students develop the ability to improvise by combining traditional figures, taking into account their partner, the structure of the music (verse vs. montuno), and the mood of the moment. By advancing these objectives, students become ready to learn more advanced and eye-catching content.

SALSA CASINO LEVEL 3
TUESDAYS 6:15-7:15PM 4 WEEKS 10/6-27
Students learn the foundations of Rueda de Casino, integrating previous content with new figures and group formations, as well as partner changes, transitions, and elements from other styles.
