The Hangar Theatre Wedge Four directors are given major fellowships from the Drama League and are hosted by the Hangar for the summer to create exciting, cutting edge theater.

The Wedge is a space created by the Hangar Theatre in 1983 for new artists to explore innovative and cutting-edge theater. Each year, four directors are given major fellowships from the Drama League in New York City and are hosted by the Hangar for the summer to create exciting theatrical work for the Ithaca community. In association with the Hangar’s artistic staff, the Drama League Fellows creat

e, plan, and execute the summer Wedge season, direct KIDDSTUFF productions on the mainstage, and teach and serve as the artistic leaders of the Hangar’s Lab Company of young actors, directors, and choreographers.

About the show:
When their last prisoner agrees to reform, the police of a distant, mythical country are terrified to find themselves obsolete. Written in 1958, this scathing satire by Slawomir Mrozek follows the chief of police as he embarks on an absurd quest to keep policing relevant in a world without criminals.

The Hangar Theatre, a leading regional theatre in central New York State, is accepting applications to its Lab Company through March 26, 2021. The Lab Company will be in residence from June 7th to August 1st, 2021.
