A detail of Matrix by Pamela Drix in the current exhibit "of vines and fences". Open tomorrow 12-4pm, Friday 4-7pm, and Saturday 12-4pm. About this piece Pamela says: Digital and written languages coexist in modern life. Social media and the effects of algorithms on the information we consume is central to this piece. In printmaking, the matrix holds the visual information from which to make multiples. The creation of the image occurs through pressure and transfer, resulting in a proof that is like a translation of the original matrix. Digital information is also a translation, from 1s and 0s to language and image.

The current exhibit "of vines and fences" by Pamela Drix will be open Thursday 8/13 from 12-4pm, Friday from 4-7pm, and Saturday 12-4pm this week. About this piece "Vines and Fences"
Pamela writes :The site of exploration is the entanglement between organic form and manufactured form. This piece highlights the focus of my work of the last two years. These prints are all hand-printed from drypoint acrylic plates that you can see in Shadowplay. I reconfigured these drypoint prints into a grid like biologic specimens to reveal continuity and discontinuity of forms. What happens at the edges of the prints suggests unresolved tension.
This work also deals with intersections, topology of mesh, tenacity of life, spatiality, edges, individuality versus the collective (the one and the many), and perception and navigation of the world. These are topics, like seeds, that have propagated throughout the exhibition.

The opening reception for the Pamela Drix one person exhibit titled "of vines and fences" will be next Saturday, August 1st from 4-6pm. "of vines and fences" explores the patterns, juxtapositions and intersections of organic and manufactured form to understand place-making. During residencies in Italy, Germany, and France last year, I focused on experimental explorations with material constraints, starting with ink on vellum, translating drawings onto acrylic plates, creating hand-pressed prints, and then developing an “alphabet” I call Alphanatura, which fuse forms of vines and fences. I concretize these forms into clay, replete with twig-like appearance, to activate space in a new way. Like language, these morphemes create their own syntax, providing an opportunity to restructure and “read” the common experience of landscape. Fusion and reflection occur throughout the exhibition.
