💫JUNE DANCE 2026💫 Mark Schmidt is a choreographer, curator, educator, and DJ whose practice is rooted in New York City’s q***r nightclub and underground house scene.

Mark says of his piece⭐️ ZY ⭐️: “Shortly after I came out at the age of 20, our Episcopalian priest wrote a letter to my mother and one to me. After carrying these letters for almost 30 years, I wanted to give them a new purpose and function.”

💫JUNE DANCE 2026💫 Rik Daniels is a speaker, model, dancer, and performance artist. Rik’s piece ‘The Light We Shine’ is an autobiographical recounting of his journey in relationship to his mother’s indelible stand for his life, love, faith and wisdom that enabled him to ‘live!’

In Rik’s words, ‘She not only gave me life, but the opportunity, encouragement, and wisdom to live it!’

💫JUNE DANCE 2026💫 Project Director Jim Self returns to the Cherry with more stories and moves from his life and long career as dancer, artist, writer, and provocateur. A little preaching, a bit of Burlesque, a lot of ‘Chatter-Boxing,’ some ‘Feet Taught Tawkin,’ and plenty the ‘Not’s and R’s of it all!

Known for his humor and fluid movement style, he guides us through the quirks and qualms of post-modern performance art, q***r consciousness, post ‘Southern Belleness’ and the swerving zigzags of aging in the 21st Century.
