Excited to announce my upcoming solo show, 'REVENGER', will open March 15 from 6-10pm at ! This show will feature a large installation of the bright, colorful, amorphous creature works I've made over the past year. It was rescheduled from it's initial date, August 2024, so there will be even more in the show than there was going to be previously. The 500X shares the space with the Eclectika at 711 N Britain Rd, Irving TX 75061.

500 Annex is thrilled to announce our upcoming juried exhibition, 'From the Inkwell'! The juror for this exhibition is 500x member and The Eclectika Gallery director . For this exhibition we are looking for works made in the medium of pen and/or ink as well as mixed media pieces that predominantly feature pen and/or ink. Works with and without color will be considered! The entry fee is $10 and each entrant is allowed to submit up to three works that are no larger than 30 inches on all sides for consideration. We welcome all artists residing in the DFW area age 18 and over to apply! Submission form linked in our bio.

About the Juror:

Anonymous Heir (Derrick Hamm), is a practicing artist, curator, 500x member, and gallery owner/director residing in the DFW area. They have been a practicing artist for over two decades and have been involved in gallery work and operations for over a decade. Their studio practice is varied in mediums, but has predominantly focused in the pen and ink medium. In addition to their studio practice, they are also the owner of and director for The Eclectika at 711 gallery, an underground art space in Irving, Texas.

ENTRY FEE & PROCEDURE:
$10 entry fee. The fee includes up to 3 artwork submissions for consideration.
Payment: visit our shop website (x-gallery.squarespace.com/shop/from-the-inkwell-submission-fee) and purchase (1) "From the Inkwell - Juried Exhibition Submission Fee." Submissions without entry fee will not be considered.

ELIGIBILITY:
'From the Inkwell' call for entries is open to all artists over the age of 18 living in the DFW area. Works must be made in the medium of pen and/or ink or mixed media works predominantly featuring pen and/or ink and must not be larger than 30 inches on all sides. Works with and without color will be considered.

EXHIBITION SCHEDULE:
Submission Deadline: Wednesday August 28, 2024 by MIDNIGHT CST
Notifications of Juror's Choice: Sunday, September 1 2024
Artwork drop off: Sunday, September 8 2024 (12-2 pm)
Exhibition Opening: September 14, 2024 from 6-9 pm
Exhibition Closes: September 15, 2024 TBD
Artwork pick-up: September 15, 2024 from 5-7 pm

500X RETURNS TO 500 EXPOSITION AVENUE! Yes, you read that right!! We are back in the original location for a very special show! Join us for the opening reception of LAZARUS, a 500X members exhibition on Saturday, June 29th from 7-10 pm. This is the first exhibition in the namesake location since March 2020!

LAZARUS runs from June 29 to July 14 with gallery hours from 12-5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery is located at 500 Exposition Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75226. We want to thank August Real Estate for their support and for this incredible opportunity to have a show back at the original location! We are over the moon about this news and hope you join us to enjoy a rad show in the historic Expo Park location. And, more good news is in store….stay tuned and save the date for LAZARUS. We’ll see y’all there!

Not current series related, but previous series related. I finally took the time to scan in this 18x24 drawing. Took over an hour because my scanner is only 8×11, so I have to scan it in sections and then reassemble it in Photoshop. Such a pain. But this is the very last remnant of the 'Demeter' series. Going to enter it in a show and see how it does.

Long time, no post. But lazy been, I have not. I've had a furious exhibition schedule the past few months, and tending to has been an enjoyable but time consuming job. However, I've still squeezed in plenty of studio time. I'm wrapping up work for the late July solo show 'REVENGER' at . In addition I am curating and over seeing two shows which will open simultaneously to my solo show in the space, a vendor Expo and q***r works exhibition. I am also submitting to a few open calls for the lulz, because juggling 20 shows this year isn't enough apparently. Any ways, here's the line work for this piece. Ready to add some color.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

‘10x10x140’ is a group exhibition of 140 small, wall hanging works that are 10 inches or less in dimension on all sides. This is a non-juried show, meaning if the work you enter meets our standards it will be accepted! While this show is non-juried, we do expect the work you submit to be of professional quality. Bring your ‘A game’ and show off your best work!

Artists are allowed to enter up to 5 pieces total. All works must be 10 inches or less on all sides and able to be installed on a wall (no freestanding or pedestal pieces will be accepted). Space is first come, first serve and only 140 works will be included. SPACE GOES FAST SO CLAIM YOURS ASAP! Acceptance fee is $10 per piece entered. There is no commission fee for any works sold at this exhibition, 100% of profits will be kept by the artist! The Eclectika will not conduct sales directly, but will connect prospective buyers with the artists.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR SUBMISSIONS:

Submissions to this show will open Monday, February 5 and will be like previous open calls at The Eclectika. There will be a simple Google form to fill out, and an email to be sent containing images of your work and an image list. YOU MUST SEND IMAGES OF YOUR SUBMISSIONS AND IMAGE LIST IN ORDER TO RESERVE YOUR SPACE! Failure to send the requested material will forfeit your space. So have that material ready to send as soon as your Google form is completed, or ideally within 24 hours of form submission. Please be sure the images of your work are quality as they will be used for promotional material. You must complete both the Google form and email to reserve space. All submissions fees will be paid in cash upon delivery of work.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Submissions will open Monday, February 5 and will remain open until the show is full.

Drop off for the show will be Sunday, March 17 from 2-5pm.

The opening reception will be held Saturday, March 23 from 7-10pm and an open viewing Sunday, March 24 from noon to 2:00pm.

Pick up will be Sunday, March 24 from 2-4 pm.
