Conrad Tao performs Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F in one final performance tonight with your Pacific Symphony led by Alexander Shelley.

While many composers of his time looked to Europe, Gershwin turned to American jazz and shaped it through classical form.

In the finale, you can hear worlds collide: ragtime energy, orchestral force, and the theatrical sweep of a composer equally at home on Broadway and in the concert hall.

This weekend, Alexander Shelley, Conrad Tao, and your Pacific Symphony bring Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F, Raven Chacon’s Inscription II, and Peter Boyer & Joe Sohm’s new multimedia work, “American Mosaic” to the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.
