“GAME! Basketball and Contemporary Art” explores the culture, creativity, and connection surrounding the game through contemporary artwork, site-specific installations, and public court design.

The exhibition features artists from “Common Practice: Basketball and Contemporary Art” alongside a look at court transformations by Project Backboard, including the newly renovated Great Park basketball courts featuring original artwork by California artist Katy Ann Gilmore.

From the energy of the court to the impact of public art in shared spaces, this exhibition highlights basketball as more than a sport — it’s a creative and cultural force that brings people together.

On view through July 26 at the Great Park Gallery.

A photograph the size of a building.
A camera the size of an airplane hangar.
A moment in Irvine history captured on an unprecedented scale.

“20 Years Later: The Great Picture” explores the creation of the world’s largest photograph, made in 2006 on the grounds of the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station — now the Great Park. The exhibition highlights the process, experimentation, and collaboration behind this monumental project by The Legacy Project.

Join us for the opening reception Thursday, June 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Irvine City Hall.

Each piece reflects a moment in time — guided by inspiration from family, travel, and the many places she has called home, with a special connection to Irvine, where she has lived for 35 years.

Annette’s work is intuitive and ever-evolving, often led by whatever color or material she is most drawn to in the moment. The result is jewelry that feels expressive, personal, and full of quiet meaning.
