Stop by the booth at the Arcadia Valley Mountain Music Festival, this Saturday the16th and check out our stereoscopes handcrafted right here in the valley! Also have a couple sets of stereo cards I made of some of the beautiful highlights of our area, and talk to us about getting super cool 3D aerial shots of your home or business! You have to look at these through a stereoscope to get the full effect, so come by and check it out!

If you do a search on worlds top hurdy gurdy player…one name usually pops up at the top of the list. I was checking YouTube comments on my “Cello Gurdy” which I haven’t done for a while, and was fairly shocked at the most recent comment!

We are looking for somebody with a talent to create on site for entertainment purposes. Like a blacksmith, woodcarver, and other similar types of things. You would be limited to the items you create and demonstrate for sale. Others should apply for a vendor booth at https://mountainmusicfestival.net/.

Back in 1996 when I built my first hurdy gurdy, I had no idea what they actually looked like, and I had no scroll saw to cut the small parts in sound holes. What I DID have was a nitro engine from a model airplane I got when I was 8 years old…sheet metal from an old Buick trunk lid, a welder and a Dremel tool. I cut a blade from the trunk lid, tempered it and welded it to the piston in the engine. I then chucked it up in my dremel tool, and proceeded to cut soundholes on several instruments. It was awkward and hard to hold because it got hot really fast, as it was spinning several thousand rpms, but it worked!

Now, with a laser and several types of scroll saws I have at my disposal I can work faster with cleaner results, but back then I had just about as much fun…but it is pretty nice not to have burned fingers! 😁

Threading keyboard mechanism for my version of an obscure French instrument. The original had precisely bent metal bars for this component…I thought cables might be simpler. I think I thought wrong😂
