Hello and Happy New Year to our West End Players community and family! We have had some inquiries concerning our spring production for 2026, and before we get to that, I’ve spent some time reflecting one 2025 and all it had to offer us.
Our Drama Club’s student run production of “Antigone” was an incredible way to start the year off, and helped them raise money for their overnight trip to see Hadestown performed in Minneapolis, MN.
Then, we spent some time in Treegap, New Hampshire during our Spring production of “Tuck Everlasting”, which brought the audience through a thought provoking tale and left them feeling a wide range of emotions.
Summer came, and we reunited the cast of Clue (with a few new faces) for the revival of our whodunnit. Then we took that show on the road, literally. We made the Crystal Theatre our home for a weekend and laughed until our sides were sore.
We hosted a brief vocal workshop that provided confidence and growth to our performers and some new faces. This showed us that workshops could be useful tools for our community!
Then the weather changed and it was time for our fall production, which we were excited to announce was “Disney’s Dare To Dream Jr.” We had a fantastic cast of kids who brought the fun and nostalgia that brightens a room.
All four of these productions saw community and friendships forged, problems solved creatively, and hours of dedication poured into them.
That being said, we want to take this moment to say how grateful we are to each and every volunteer who helped us pull of these incredible shows. Being entirely volunteer run, means that we quite literally cannot do it without our beloved volunteers. However, our volunteer numbers are not quite optimal for sustainability, and we had to take a good look at that.
So, what is our plan for spring? Our plan is to take our turn to show up for our volunteers by taking a break. As previously stated, our volunteers are what keep the lights on. We cherish arts created by human hands and we don’t want to compromise on our connection to our community for the sake of ease, but that does end up requiring more hands. We hope to take this time to build up our volunteer base, while also providing time for our WEP family to rest and prepare for Summer.
But don’t worry, the curtain isn’t fully closed for Spring. We have some ideas that we are pretty excited about and can’t wait to share with you.
Let’s celebrate the new year with hope and a creative outlook for 2026!
Long live community theater!
