Hello Painted Whimsy fans, customers, friends, and family!
My phone and email have been blowing up the last couple weeks wondering about possible face painting this summer. It totally warms my heart to know you guys are ready for some normalcy just like I am!! I seriously miss you all and can’t wait to get back to my regular events to see you all!
That being said, I have absolutely no idea what is going on. 😂 See..face paint has always carried a small amount of illness/disease risk. We (painters and assistants) are no stranger to giving parents a baby wipe to give faces a once over before painting. We have had private discussions with customers about avoiding painting physically ill people or avoiding areas of skin irritation. We often talk about the products we use and how important it is to use high quality, professional body art paints, glitters, brushes, etc to reduce skin irritation risk. Pre-Covid, we had sanitation measures in place to keep people safe and healthy. Now, professional painters from around the world are discussing how we can keep people healthy and safe while adhering to local guidelines.
This would be much easier to plan if we knew what the guidelines were. Each location is different, and they are constantly changing. 🤦♀️ The best we can do is plan for the best and plan for the worst. Best case scenario, I think, is going to be forehead painting or arm designs with the customer masked. Myself and any assistants will be wearing masks and face shields. Another option I am considering is airbrush face paint/body art instead of brush paint. Last year, there was concern about the air blowing germs airborne. I don’t know if that’s still a thing. No one can really tell me. Henna is also a lower risk option but takes more time. Glitter tattoos are always fun too! 🤷♀️
So because I don’t have a clue what is going to happen...at this point, I am taking tentative appointment requests for dates after July 1st. No deposits due until June 1st for dates in July. Deposits going forward will be due 30 days in advance to secure your date. I feel like we should have at least SOMEWHAT of an indication how things are going 30 days in advance, but if 2020 taught us anything, it’s that everything can change in an instant. So, as we are moving closer to those dates, I will be in touch with all booking contacts so we all know where things are at closer to your event. At this point, I only have 2 weekends in August and 1 full weekend in September left. October has always been questionable, but I am seriously hoping for some awesome Halloween paints!
That was a whole lot of typing to mostly say, “not a clue, but I hope so!” If you’re still reading, you’re the best, and I truly hope we can do at least a few normal things this summer ❤️❤️
