So how was your day? Our was busy, mom and I worked on getting all the workshop paper work all in her books…..Gidget was supervising lol I went in the office to print out a bunch of orders that came in while we were working and I hear mom YELLING!!!!
Mom doesn’t yell lol
I go running out and there’s a black snake coming out from under the wool shelves, across the floor to the triangle of gridwall we have with patterns on it! It wasn’t big only about 3 feet but freaked us out!! I grabbed the triangle display, thankfully it’s on wheel and started pushing it, screeching for the front door lol the snake was trying to figure out where the Disney ride came from and kept winding its way in and out of the gridwall lol I made it to the door and he dropped out and scooted away lol so.. how was your day? lol

Gidgett is a charming beginner-friendly design that hooks up beautifully as a small pillow or mat. This 12x12 square pattern is hand-drawn on linen and Julie punched it using Violet Jane hand-dyed yarns for rich, authentic color. The kit includes either uncut wool carefully matched to the sample or the same yarns Julie used—ideal for starting your rug hooking journey or enjoying as a quick, satisfying project between larger pieces. This piece would be great in so many easy color plans, what colors would you use? I started with blues instead of reds. But there was not enough contrast with the blues so I ripped that all out and switched to reds and I love it! The pattern is 12x12 and hand drawn on linen. I love punching on linen myself. The pattern is $26.99 and there are kits available in uncut wool or yarn. All the details are at the link below.

Something fun is coming and we are so excited to share it with you! This is a throwback to our rug hooking days in Maine, 25 years ago, when we were brand new and located in the wonderful old sea captains' home in Searsport Maine! Surrounded by ancient apple trees, gardens, good food and wool! Then we added the camaraderie and laughter of happy hookers and stitchers! Now over 25 years later, we are going back to small group gatherings in the shop and no longer traveling or hosting events outside the store. With the Hookin’ behind us we can go back to the original intention of our move. And we hope you can join us soon in our Irmo SC location! So, get your friends and spread the word and let's all meet at Searsport! Bring some old ones and gain some new ones and let's all create together!
