As many of you know The Met has been around a while, and with that we have had many different seats over the years. Including the original red velvet and cast iron seats from 1899. You'll notice the embroidered gold E on them for Eugene Ellsworth who built the theater. The last of these seats were removed in the 1993 remodel and were sold off to the public. If you have some of the original chairs share photos of how you have used them or displayed them!

As always if you have any items or stories you would like to share to The Met Museum feel free to contact us as we'd love to gather memories about our lovely theater.
