Cowboys Incahoots will not be holding the 2023 Rancher’s Day Rodeo during Ione Homecoming. This was a decision that was not made lightly and had several deciding factors. Stay tuned as we are still working on holding the 2023 Rancher’s Day Rodeo at a different time and/or venue. We wish Ione Picnic Association a great Homecoming and we want to thank our community for supporting our time with this event.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chance’s wife, boys, and the rest of his family. Chance won our Bronc riding back in 2018 and was one hell of a good man, cowboy and friend. We hope you’re riding the good ones up there Chance.

Kids Corral starts at 6pm at the Ed Hughes Arena! Bring the kiddos out and kick off Homecoming weekend with some Stick Horse Barrel Racing, Dummy Roping, Boot Races and more! All free to participate in and there is no entry fee! We’ll start off the event with the much anticipated Mutton Bustin and roll on through!

*All mutton bustin applicants were contacted yesterday 5/12 and we have our 20 riders!*

Big thank you to .ioneca and Finch Excavation for their sponsorship to restore our Mutton Bustin Chute. Cody Gold and Zach and Isa Finch did a great job and we are looking forward to getting kids out of it tomorrow at our free Kid’s Corral event at Ed Hughes Arena. There will be other free ranchy games after the Mutton Bustin and then the Homecoming fireworks start around 9pm!

We are very happy that this year’s cattle will be provided by our own Travis and Tanner Kent from 7Up Productions.

•Travis and Tanner Kent were both born and raised in Oakdale, Ca. They have been a part of the cattle and rodeo industry since they were born. They started their stock contracting business, 7UP Productions two years ago. Since then, they have provided stock to multiple junior rodeos, the California High School Rodeo Association, ranch rodeos, sortings, and most recently have started to produce ACTRA team ropings. They are excited to provide stock to the Ione Ranch Rodeo, an event they have been attending for several years, and getting to work with the Ione Rodeo Committee. Some of you may recognize a familiar face up in the announcers booth this year! Big thank you to Mr. Bob Long or Bob-a-Long to many of us. Here’s what he has to say!
• I’ve been around this life style most of my life wasn’t till in my early 20’s I got into the Cowboy’n . I met a Rancher who had a feedlot in Sloughhouse his name was Snook Silva he ran on a average of 4500 head at the feedlot plus about 400 head of mother cows. Him and I hit it off pretty good the next thing I know I’m riding a half broke horse and ponying another to go work the sick pens. As my journey continued and trips around the sun and me being on my third set of teeth I got hooked into helping announce at a WSRRA in Plymouth a few years back so I helped out and really enjoyed it especially seeing everyone and knowing the tradition is carrying on. It’s been a great journey and what a ride I wouldn’t trade it for anything.•

Just some updates.

Below is the schedule of events for Saturday.
Vendors: informational emails will go out later today.
Competitors: informational emails will go out tomorrow or Wednesday.
Mutton Bustin: parents, you will receive a phone call on Thursday if your kid is in the event on Friday.

Unless you are directly related to the Rodeo, we ask that you leave your horses at home. Parking is limited and there is no need to haul in if you are not participating. Please do not bring your horses and ask to help the day of. You will be asked to take your horses home.

There will be food and beer available for purchase on Saturday, but we ask that you please be respectful of the facility and throw your trash into the bins.

Please respect posted signs regarding parking and administrative details.

Cowboy Incahoots reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the event should there be any issue. Ione PD will be on the grounds as well.

We are looking forward to being back after a long two years and we want this event to be successful and fun for the whole family.
