Know any adventurous filmmakers with diamonds on the soles of their ski boots? Let me know! The Hell’s Kitchen of backcountry ski movie contests takes place on February 8, and I’m in the hunt for participants.

Check out the link above to learn more about the DIAMOND 48 film contest at the Mount Washington Backcountry Ski Festival, which Reel Quest Films is psyched to sponsor this year.

A few snaps from Makenzie’s first trip up to camp. No better way to celebrate forty years spinning around the sun than introducing the next generation to her mom’s beautiful home state.

It was pure musical magic a couple of weeks ago at the Highland Center when the Boston-based quartet brought their talents to Crawford Notch and dropped some velvety melodies on a warm summer night. If you're looking for some new-to-you tunes for your summer Spotify list, give these guys a listen and check them out on tour. They were a joy to photograph and jam out to live. Here's just a few shots I took from that memorable night!

Having worked for the for 10 years before starting Rooted in Light Media, it was a pleasure to return to their Maine Wilderness Lodges last week to shoot some marketing videos for them with and . Over four days, our rockstar video team captured some amazing footage from the air and the ground and interviewed the people who've made this area into what it is today. Keep an eye out later this year for the rollout of these shorts films. In the meantime, here's a peek behind the scenes of the production.

1. A snow-covered landscape greeted us as we entered Greenville, Maine.
2. Packing for an extended trip to a location that is only accessible by cross-country skis and snowmobiles was a challenge, but we found a way to fit everything in Jerry's Jeep. Now, to fit it all in the totes to be pulled by snowmobile to the camps.
3. Success! Everything fits and we're headed to Little Lyford Lodge and Cabins to begin our first day of shooting.
4. Joe and I channel our inner modeling skills as Jerry (next photo) gives us direction on where to snowshoe across Little Lyford Pond.
5. Jerry prepares for some long-distance shooting as we cross the pond.
6. Our first morning at the camps included a stellar sunrise and some fairly seasonable temperatures to film in.
7. Without a solid surface to launch the drone off of, Joe prepares to take off from his hand. Nobody was hurt!
8. AMC's Steve Tatko and Walter Graff discuss the video script as Jerry dials in his camera settings.
9. Jerry records Liz Holden and Matt Morris from AMC's marketing team skiing on some freshly groomed trail.
10. That's a wrap! Jerry dons his helmet and aviators before taking our 8-mile snowmobile trip back to the cars.

It’s all about the eyes photographers will say. And given that rare opportunity to look deeper into the eyes, I’m offered a glimpse of a magical soul curiously exploring a new world. A sneeze or a blink and the moment is gone. Precious fleeting awareness of an instance shared through a lens.

Looking for a last-minute gift? We just dropped a brand new 12"x36" print in our store this week that is sure to be a hit with White Mountain hikers. Printed on Canon satin paper, this colorful mosaic features more than 200 photos that we took of trail signs in the White Mountain National Forest as we continue our quest to hike every one of its trails.

We had a fun time creating this one. Our newborn daughter sat on Ryan's lap while he meticulously cropped and positioned each photo in place. A storyteller at heart, Ryan entertained her while he worked with tales of adventures he's had on some of the trails found in this print.

We're looking forward to selling these at some bookstores and outfitters in the future, so stay tuned for details. In the meantime, click on the link in our bio to pick one up before Santa comes to town.
