Thinking about Octavia Butler today as it feels as if we are on a new frontier traversing this Afro-Futurist, now our Afro-Modernist, realm. Upon deeper reflection, the concept of “vision” came to mind. Many have a vision of the things that they want to experience differently in the world. Butler not only dreamed of worlds. She manifested these dreams by taking action. By writing, vision boarding, and having an unshakable knowing that she could have what she wanted.

Our determination must be soul-deep. Your stories matter. Your dreams matter. Your vision matters. Every day is a day to do something different. So be encouraged. Take action on this lovely day.
