PIANIST AND VIOLIST TO PLAY AT CHERRY HILL Sunday April 12

Pianist Kwan Yi and violist Rachel Yonan will perform at Cherry Hill on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The program will open with Franz Schubert’s beautiful “Arpeggione Sonata” and will include works by Debussy, Chopin, Faure, Mendelssohn, Arvo Part, and James MacMillan.
This Sunday’s performance marks a return to Cherry Hill for Kwan Yi, while introducing a well-recognized violist to the local concert venue. Rachel Yonan has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in concert halls across the United States, Europe, and China. Her playing is described as “haunting, beautiful music, beautifully played……” She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Rice University. She successfully launched a new concert series Marinus Concerts, and has taught viola performance and chamber music at Duke University.
Kwan Yi also has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has collaborated with Itzhak Perlman, Miriam Fried, and Roberto Diaz on national tours. He is a graduate of the Curtis Institute, Julliard School, and the Peabody Institute and currently serves as associate professor of piano at the East Carolina University School of Music.
The performance will be at 3:00 PM, and admissions will be taken at the door. Adults will be admitted for $10, students for $5, and children 12 and under will be admitted for free. A reception will be held in the dining room and parlors of the 1858 plantation home of the George Alston family, and the entire house will be open for touring.

BENJAMIN HOCHMAN TO PERFORM AT CHERRY HILL March 1

Pianist Benjamin Hochman will return to Cherry Hill with a program of works by a number of favorite composers on Sunday, March 1. Hochman, born in Jerusalem, now resides in Berlin, Germany. He first performed at Cherry Hill when he was visiting professor of piano at East Carolina University and returned to the historic Warren County venue in 2024 during a United States concert tour.
Hochman fills many roles, from orchestral soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician to conductor. He regards music as vital and essential, and members of the music performance world recognize his deep commitment to insightful programming and performances of quality. Since his concert debut at Carnegie Hall, he has performed with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and Prague Philharmonia. A winner of Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Career Grant, Hochman performs at venues around the world.
The concert begins at 3:00 PM and will include works by Bach, Brahms, Debussy, and Chopin. This concert is supported by an endowment in memory of Amma Graham, Warrenton resident and early supporter of local historic preservation.
A reception will be held following the concert, with the entire 1850’s plantation house open for touring. Admissions will be taken at the door with adults at $10, students at $5, and children 12 and under admitted at no charge.

THE OAKWOOD WAITS RETURN TO CHERRY HILL

The Cherry Hill Historical Foundation will present their annual Christmas gift to area residents with a musical program by The Oakwood Waits on Sunday, December 14th. The event will begin at 3:00 PM, with a reception to follow in the 1858 plantation home of the George Alston descendants in Inez.

The Raleigh a ca****la singers began their traditional visit to Cherry Hill in 2008, and except for the Covid years they have delighted their audiences at the Warren County site each December since. Dressed in Victorian attire, the double quartet sings songs of the season with much joy and a bit of fun.

The singers have been invited to the White House three times, and the sing at the Governor’s Mansion in Raleigh on numerous occasions. They also perform during the holiday season at various locations throughout the Triangle area.

Pianist Solomon Eichner will perform at Cherry Hill on Sunday, September 28th. The program will include works by Chopin, Brahms, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and other well-know composers.

Originally from Baltimore, Mr. Eichner graduated from the Manhattan School of Music and Peabody Conservatory. He has performed in England, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland and throughout the United States, including several well-received performances at Cherry Hill. He maintains a faculty position for the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute. He, his wife Becky and young daughter Skylar Gizelle reside in Chapel Hill.

Sunday’s concert will begin at 3:00 PM, and admissions will be taken at the door. Adult admissions will be $10, students at $5, and children 12 and under admitted at no charge. A reception will follow the concert, and the 1858 plantation house will be open in its entirety.

JAZZ TRIO AT CHERRY HILL
The David Esleck Trio will perform jazz at Cherry Hill on Sunday, July 13th. The concert will begin at 3:00 PM, and admissions will be taken at the door. The group, comprised of piano, bass, and drums, has made several appearances at the Inez venue and is among Cherry Hill’s most requested performers.
Dr. Esleck, performer, composer, producer, and educator, teaches at the University of Richmond. Experienced as a multi-instrumentalist, he focuses on the piano, both as a soloist and with the trio. He has been heard in concerts and recitals around the country, including performances for and with Presidents, heads of state, CEO’s, Hollywood stars and musical figures like Tony Bennett. He holds Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees . Jazz bands, children’s choirs, orchestras and soloists have performed Esleck’s music, and it has been heard in films and television programs.
The July concert is given in memory of Edwina Rooker, Warrenton resident and longtime supporter of the Cherry Hill Foundation and its cultural and educational missions.
Admission for this concert will be $10 for adults, $5 for students, and children 12 and under will be admitted at no charge. A reception will follow the program, and the entire 1858 home will be open.

PIANO TRIO TO PERFORM AT CHERRY HILL
The Neave Piano Trio will perform at Cherry Hill on Sunday, March 23rd. The program will begin at 3:00, and a reception will be held in the dining room and parlors of the 1858 plantation house after the performance.
Formed in 2010, the Neave Trio has earned enormous praise for its engaging, cutting-edge performances. The word “Neave” is Gaelic for “bright” and “radiant”, both of which apply to the trio’s music making, according to several music critics. The group consists of violinist Anna Williams, cellist Mikhail Veselov, and pianist Eri Nakamura and has performed at many prominent concert series and festivals worldwide. They have played at the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and numerous esteemed venues. They have held residency positions at Brown University, the University of Virginia, Bard College, and at Virginia Commonwealth University,
Sunday’s program will include David Ludwig’s “Three Yiddish Dances”, Bedrich Smetana’s Piano Trio No. 1 in G minor, and the Shostakovich Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor. Admissions will be taken at the door with adults at $10, students at $5, and children 12 and under admitted at no charge.
Begun in 1982 by Warren County resident Edgar Thorne, the Cherry Hill Concert Series takes place in the 1858 plantation home of the George Washington Alston family. The home has been carefully preserved by the original family descendants and the Cherry Hill Historical Foundation and will be open for touring after the concert. CLASSICAL GUITARIST AND FLUTIST AT CHERRY HILL
Classical guitarist Joseph Pecoraro and flutist Tadeu Coelho will perform at Cherry Hill on SATURDAY Nov. 4th. The program will begin at 3:00 PM and admissions will be taken at the door. Adult admission will be $10, students will be $5, and all children 12 and under will be admitted at no charge. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CONCERT WILL BE ON SATURDAY.
Mr. Pecoraro is recognized as a highly accomplished concert and recording artist, teacher, and author. He has performed all over the world and appears with regularity in many American cities. In 1998 Mr. Pecoraro joined the artist-faculty of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a full-time professor of guitar. He teaches graduate, college and high school guitar majors. Previously he held teaching positions at Salem College, Indiana University, and the University of Colorado. His UNCSA students have won top prizes in regional and national solo and concerto competitions and have distinguished themselves as active performers, teachers, and recording artists.
Dr. Coelho has been a Resident Artist and Professor of Flute at the North Carolina School of the Arts since the fall of 2002. Prior to his UNCSA tenure he taught at the University of New Mexico, the University of Iowa, and as Visiting Professor at the Mirkovich Music Academy in Croatia. He frequently appears as soloist, chamber musician and master clinician throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music and currently serves on the Board of Directors at the National Flute Association.
Among the works to be played on Saturday will be music of Satie, Debussy, Bach, Piazzola and Ibert.

Acclaimed pianist Solomon Eichner will perform a tribute to composer Sergei Rachmaninoff at Cherry Hill on Sunday, September 17th. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Russian born pianist and composer, Mr. Eichner will play a number of Rachmaninoff’s works, including several of the well-known preludes. Also on the program will be works of other lauded composers such as Brahms, Liszt, Chopin, Schumann, and Gershwin.

TENOR AND PIANIST TO PERFORM AT CHERRY HILL
The Cherry Hill Board of Directors will present tenor Tyrone Chambers and pianist Jonathan Levin on Sunday, August 27th. The performance will begin at 3:00 PM and admissions will be taken at the door. Adult admission is $10, students at $5, and children 12 and younger admitted at no charge.
Tyrone Chambers, a New Orleans native, began singing as a youngster with his church choir. He attended Morehouse College where he earned a degree in music and developed a passion for opera. While at Morehouse he received a thorough background in European classical music and later received a Masters in Music from the University of Oklahoma. He returned to New Orleans and performed in many local productions before moving to New York City for greater access to auditions. He has performed in numerous locations throughout Europe and the United States. His musical repertoire is extensive, being equally at home with jazz, musical theater, opera, and oratorio.
Jonathan Levin has established himself as a compelling pianist, composer, concert producer, and music entrepreneur. He is the Artistic Director and Founder of the Clayton Piano Festival, now in its 12th season. Performing across the United States and Europe, Mr. Levin has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards and has performed several times at Cherry Hill.
The two musicians have collaborated on several occasions to present programs of music from many genres. Sunday’s performance will include works of Charles Lloyd Jr., Moses Hogan, Samuel Barber, Arthur Davis, George Walker, Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss and others.
A reception for performers and guests will take place following the concert. The entire 1858 plantation home will be open for touring.
