5th & 6th grade artists have been creating masks inspired by 🇵🇷 Puerto Rican Vejigente masks. Fueled by creativity and inspired by a history of rich culture and celebration.

6th grade artists learned about a game called Loteria! This game combines beautiful art, the object with text in Spanish, and the fun of whole group game! Artists drew their favorite Loteria cards in their own style and created magnificent mini works of art. 🖼️

4th grade artists created Monarch butterflies after learning more from the book “Señorita Mariposa” by Ben Gundersheimer and illustrated by Marcos Almada Rivera.

Monarch butterflies are known for their incredible long-distance migrations. They travel thousands of miles each year, flying from Canada and the United States all the way to Mexico🇲🇽 for the winter. This journey is one of the most remarkable in the animal kingdom!

2nd grade artists traveled (using our ‘imaginations’) to Peru!🇵🇪

They learned about fiber arts, practiced tying knots, and created Peruvian inspired wall hangings.

Traditional Peruvian wall hangings are made from natural fibers like alpaca wool and llama wool.

Colors come from plant, flower, insect, and mineral dyes, giving them rich, natural hues.

I hope all of our Winding Ridge Mom’s and Mother figures had a wonderful Mother’s Day!!💜🌺 Our Phoenix artists were hard at work last week filling papers with love and appreciation for all you do!!

1st grade Artists created portraits, illustrations, and paint collages connected to lyrics and songs for their performance. Phoenix scholars explore different media and multi step processes allowing them to practice focus, hand eye coordination, expression and lots of fun singing along the way. 🎶🎨 And a surprise bonus after the performance on the playground to celebrate a great show! The sky painted us a rainbow 🌈 and small raindrops fell like lemon drops!!
