prompt 4 is supposed to be my favorite me made outfit, but instead I’m sharing something I’m super proud of.

I made all of these, in my apartment. It was for a Mardi Gras Ball. The theme was NYC and each one, except the queen, was inspired by NYC.

Happy day 3 of

Today’s prompt is the first thing I made. Unfortunately, I recently moved and everything I own is still in boxes. So this is the first thing I made, that I could located on my phone. I made this my junior year of college. It was the Sleeping Beauty’s Wedding Tutu. I cut all the tulle, layered it all on scrim and tacked down each layer by hand. It was a massive undertaking, for someone new to sewing. Looking back I am super proud of how it turned out. I’ve made several costumes since this picture was taken, but it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Happy when I saw this yesterday, I stopped dead in my tracks. “In order to be magnetic, you have to be able to be repulsive.” I don’t think I’ve ever heard it stated so clearly.

There are people who are on the fence about me. They think I’m too loud or too much. They have opinions about where I work or the high esteem in which I think of myself. The older I get the easier it is for me to walk away. A decade ago I may have tried harder, shrank myself to be more palatable. I’m getting so much better at saying “this opportunity, person, client, job or whatever isn’t for me” and walking away before the situation becomes toxic.

If there are rooms or spaces you no longer see me in, this is why!

Thank you to everyone involved in Feast of Lanterns the organizers, the volunteers and the sponsors. Year after year you put on an amazing event. The vibe is always immaculate.

I’d also like to thank everyone that stopped by and said hi. From the friends that came by for a hug to the guy who complimented how well my banner was made. I even had a guy come and ask me how to say my name. I’m gonna do another intro video soon, apparently a lot people don’t know the correct pronunciation 😂

And a very heartfelt thanks to everyone who made a purchase, which supports my dream!
