Indy area fans of Poetry: Join us at the Poets Laureate of Lawrence on June 27th at The Theater at the Fort from 7-9 pm for our monthly poetry series.

The Theater at the Fort is on Otis Avenue (take 56th Street to Post Road. Go North on Post and West on Otis.)

This month we are meeting on June 27, 2017. Tonight, instead of a featured poet, we will meet at the Theater at the Fort, then carpool to nearby Fort Harrison Park to write nature inspired poetry. Those interested can send tonight’s writing to submit to the Fort Ben Writer’s online journal for publication. www.Fortbenwriters.comI

Please join us on May 23rd at The Poets Laureate of Lawrence - our monthly featured poet/open mike series that happens every 4th Tuesday of the month, from 7:00 – 9:00pm at The Theater at the Fort on Indy's east side, 8920 Otis Avenue, Lawrence, 46216 (www.artsforlawrence.org).

This month our featured poet will be Tracy Mishkin. Tracy is a call center veteran with a PhD and an MFA student in Creative Writing at Butler University. She is the author of two chapbooks, I Almost Didn't Make It to McDonald's (Finishing Line Press, 2014) and The Night I Quit Flossing (Five Oaks Press, 2016). An Indiana native, she has twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize by Parody.

Please join us for the next Poets Laureate of Lawrence on August 23 at 6:30pm at the Theater at the Fort. We will be featuring the Fort Ben writers project. Bring writing materials and hiking shoes. For the first time, we will be taking a field trip to nearby Fort Harrison State Park to write.

Please come to the next meeting of the Poets Laureate of Lawrence on January 22, 6-8 pm at 4437 N. Franklin Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46226. This month, there is no featured poet. Instead, help us welcome in the new year by bringing your favorite poems of 2012. Perhaps you were particularly inspired by a certain poet, or you discovered a poem that deeply moved you. We will share these poems and discuss why they were so important to you. In addition to poems by others who have influenced you, please bring a brand new poem of your own to share if you would like.
