Earlier this summer, Claire Dana, Charge Scenic Artist, brought out the IRT's backdrop collection for documentation. These hand-painted backdrops have been used for a variety of shows at the IRT; some have even been used on the stage more than once! The Scene Shop has painted many backdrops over the years, using a variety of advanced and specialized techniques.

Earlier this month, we celebrated the successes of the 2025-2026 Season at our Annual Board Meeting. Some highlights from the evening are below.

🌟 Eric J. Olson, Institutional Giving Manager, received the Richard O. Morris Award. The Richard O. Morris Award is given by the Indiana Repertory Theatre Board of Directors to a member of the outstanding IRT staff for exceptional service to the Theatre.

🌟 Board member Elisha Kemp received the Exemplary Board Service Award for her amazing work as Chair of the Celebrity Radio Show Committee, as well as her overall service to the IRT Board.

🌟 We rounded out the evening by celebrating the overwhelming success of Come From Away, a sold-out Celebrity Radio Show, and continued building excitement for the 2026-2027 Season!

It is with tremendous joy for him and no small touch of sadness for us that we say our farewells this month to our longtime Resident Dramaturg Richard J Roberts after 36 years of dedicated service to the Theatre and the arts of Indiana. For all of us at the IRT and those he’s worked with beyond, he has been a researcher, editor, director, writer, steward, and friend.
