This little guy has quite the personality.

Senior Marine Mammal Trainer Erika A. has been assisting on the round-the-clock care, and has become very familiar with his big personality. He's headstrong, opinionated, incredibly smart and surprisingly adaptable. He also happens to love ice cubes, drinking from the hose and getting some quality snuggle time with his caregivers. Sounds like he knows exactly what he wants!

This calf was admitted to the Alaska SeaLife Center Wildlife Response Program for rehabilitation, receiving care from a dedicated group of experts coming from near and far to lend a helping hand. 🐾

We're making a few improvements! 🚧

Aku and Ginger will be taking a little behind-the-scenes break while we make repairs to the walrus habitat.

In the meantime, you can still dive into the fun and visit all our other aquatic friends! 💙 🐬

Being a walrus calf is a full time job. 🩵

Orphaned without his mother, this little guy needs near-constant socialization, so his rehabilitation team steps in as his surrogate family. Because of the intensive care and human socialization, he won't be a candidate for release.

Senior Marine Mammal Trainer Erika A. is assisting in providing the care, companionship and attention he needs to thrive. His rehabilitation also provides an opportunity to advance our understanding of Alaska's marine life while making him an important ambassador for his species and the protection of marine ecosystems.

It's Customer Service Week, and we're celebrating the people who help make every visit to the Indianapolis Zoo a great one. 💚

Our staff is there from the moment guests arrive, helping answer questions, solve problems, provide directions and make sure everyone feels welcome. And behind the scenes, they're working hard to keep the Zoo going, picking up extra shifts, working additional hours or helping out after class.

Thank you to all our incredible staff for everything you do, every day! We couldn't do it without you! 🐾
