♻️ Goodbye for now, not forever ♻️

On November 1, 2018 I opened ReCraft with a big idea and not much else. One of my friends gave me this picture that has hung above the door and it has meant so much to me. It symbolizes an outpouring of care to me. That is what ReCraft has been - an outpouring of love. This love has been for crafting, for reusing and recycling, and most importantly, for each other and our neighbors. Today I took down this picture before locking the door for the last time. Now it is time for a new channel for this outpouring (Check out the last picture for our happy, bursting storage unit that will be going to Arts With A Purpose! We’ll be reformatting under their umbrella, so please stay tuned for that. We’ll post to this account with updates or you can follow their social accounts).

Thank you all for the love you have shown. You have changed my life for the better and I never imagined that three years and three months later I’d be where I am now: happy, healthy, and ready for the next chapter. If you’re interested in keeping up with me, please follow my partner’s farm

Love to you all!
Taz (the owner formerly known as Bethany 😊)

Hello friends,

This is going to be a bit of a lengthy post, so here is the news first:

The time has come to close our storefront. To be clear, this is “goodbye for now,” not “goodbye forever.”

Our remaining days that you can shop, which we will try extremely hard to stick to, will be:

Friday, January 21 - 11 am to 5 pm

Saturday, January 22 - 11 am to 5 pm

Friday, January 28 - 11 am to 5 pm
Saturday, January 29 - 12:30 pm to 5 pm
Friday, February 4 - 11 am to 5 pm
Saturday, February 5 - 11 am to 5 pm

Friday, February 11 - 11 am to 5 pm
Saturday, February 12 - 11 am to 5 pm

Each of these days will have GREAT BARGAINS!! Fill a bag and pay what you think it’s worth! Make an offer on a pile of stuff! We’ll for sure say yes - every item that you take home to love means one less item we have to pack up and move.

Opportunities to help us pack and move things:

Saturday, February 19 - 9 am to 5 pm

Sunday, February 20 - 12pm to 5 pm

Saturday, February 26 - 9 am to 5 pm

Sunday, February 26 - 9 am to 5 pm

Where are we moving?

We are moving things into a storage unit temporarily, and then will take a few months off to regroup.

♻️💚♻️💚♻️💚♻️

Are you still taking donations on these days?

No, because we’re just already have too much stuff. But don’t despair! We will hopefully hold a donation drive for Arts With A Purpose in the future, so stay tuned for that.

♻️💚♻️💚♻️💚♻️

When will ReCraft, or a version of ReCraft be back?

Hopefully sometime in fall or winter of 2022, if not spring of 2023. I will be working closely with Arts With A Purpose for a new vision and way forward for ReCraft. We may have some popup events for shopping or have a donation drive…stay tuned for those details.

♻️💚♻️💚♻️💚♻️

How can we support you during this time?

Come buy stuff so we don’t have to move it all! Tell your friends to come buy stuff! Come help us move at the end of February! Bring us totes or bins or cardboard boxes that you don’t need so we have something to put it in. Like the Arts With A Purpose page and keep up with the amazing things they are doing! Send good thoughts and vibes our way! Help us figure out a new location in Fountain Square for our Community Food Box!

A small note: I’m already way overwhelmed with messages and voicemails and can’t respond to them all. Please don’t take offense if I can’t get back to you. Thank you!!

Why is this happening?

We had an INCREDIBLE first two years. We were breaking even, and at one point, even turned a small profit (very very small, but still something!). And then, Covid happened. Ever since March of 2020, things have been rough financially. When I opened ReCraft in November of 2018, I had no idea that I would be facing a global pandemic just two years into a new business. I didn’t feel right staying open for shopping, and I just am not an online order kind of person. I kept ReCraft afloat by working multiple other jobs, but am reaching the end of my capacity to do that. It’s just not sustainable at this time. When we come back as part of Arts With A Purpose, it will be in a more sustainable format.

♻️💚♻️💚♻️💚♻️

What a journey it has been, friends! I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I opened the doors on that cold November morning. From day one, I have been so astounded by the community that sprang up around me. I’ve met some of my dearest friends through this store, and made so many connections with passionate, caring individuals. We’ve rescued so many supplies that would have ended up in the trash, we’ve provided materials to people who wouldn’t be able to afford them otherwise, people have shared their knowledge, discovered new passions, re-discovered their own creativity, connected with each other… and to me, the most important thing is that together we have literally helped feed and clothe our neighbors who are experiencing houselessness. I never imagined that we could have such an impact together.

This store has been such a part of my life since 2018, and I couldn’t have done it without all of YOU! From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank you. Although this is bittersweet, I know that this is the right move to take. As I said before, this is just “goodbye for now.” This momentum is too big to be stopped by a small setback, and we will be back, in a different and more sustainable format.

Love,
Tamzin (the ReCraft store owner formerly known as Bethany ☺️)

Why ReCraft?

Hi, my name is Bethany Walters and I am the driving force behind ReCraft. This business was born from my lifelong obsession with crafting and my journey into environmental activism.

We believe that our first responsibility as makers and creators is to make and create in a constructive, not destructive way. Our purpose is to create the opportunity for art and craft, not to create waste. ReCraft functions as a connection point and facilitator for sustainable and ethical crafting.
