Before and after in my wood kiln and some of the cups out of it.
**⚠️BORING WARNING⚠️**
Don’t read below here if you don’t want to be bored by some of the the boring, lame, uninteresting, and dumb “facts” about the firing. Or do 🤷‍♂️
To start out, this was the seventh time I’ve fired this kiln and the first time I’ve felt kind of like I know what I’m doing. The cone packs are 05, 5, 6, and 7, 9, 10. The Indy cups are all glazed using the AMACO - American Art Clay Company satin matte line. The re-fire mug laying down is Art Deco green. All the clay is Amaco A-mix white stoneware no. 11 The hottest part of the kiln is at the middle cone pack, which had cone 10 down in 3 hours. I fired for a total of 4.5 hours to even out the temperature and get cone 10 down on the top. Work on the top shelf looks wood fired while everything below that has more of an interesting gas fired look. All the wood I’m burning is kiln dried scraps from a wood shop. I burned 3.5 barrels full of wood scraps.
