We're three days from our first Arts Festival and very close to finishing the building, so now's a great time to say thank you Irvington Development Organization for being Red Barn Arts Collective's fiscal agent while we waited for our official non-profit designation, and thank you for stewarding our donations and sending this wonderful check for $4,947.43, the total from our first Facebook campaign plus many more generous donations from so many incredible supporters in Indianapolis and beyond! We're also grateful to Finance of America and Mike Partin at Parker Mortgage for their $500 donation!

Welcome Michael Swinford to the Red Barn. He's reserved our rehearsal space to work on his one-man show for Indy Fringe Festival 2019, "The Only Thing Worse You Could've Told Me" by Dan Butler, of TV's Frasier fame, who has written a tour de force of what it means to be a gay man. Michael plays 10 different characters ranging from a guy you'll probably hate to the one you'll likely fall in love with. Michael is artistic director of Be Out Loud Theatre (BOLT), Indianapolis's only exclusively LGBTQ theatre company. Ages 19+, adult language and sexual situations. Opens August 15th, 9 PM at the District Theatre in the cabaret space. WELCOME MICHAEL!! https://www.facebook.com/BOLTIndianapolis/

Located on three hidden acres in the middle of urban Indianapolis, Red Barn Arts Collective is an Irvington-based 501 (c) 3 non profit that supports the arts in our communities by providing low-cost studio, classroom, and outdoor space to full-time artists, arts educators, and performance artists.
Emphasis on AFFORDABLE. We don't plan to contribute to the starving of the artists. Studio fees will be as low as they can possibly go and are only for covering the cost of utilities. Jamie Willis and Deb Kent are committed to creating a nurturing, supportive and affordable environment for community artists.
Seven full-time artists will have studio space in the barn. The already-finished classroom space is available now for workshops and classes. Jamie Locke treated us to a preview of her upcoming glass etching class and it was AWESOME!! Dave Nice is planning art classes for teens and homeschool groups plus special events such as Beer and Comics, Dave's answer to ladies' Wine and Canvas. Our eight cats and four dogs will be thrilled to know that Rita Spalding is planning a pet portraits workshop this summer!
Priority One is to make the barn ready for studios: getting the metal roof water-tight, insulating, amping up the electric service, installing climate control. If you've got skills, we'd love the help. Hoping to make this a community barn-raising, so to speak, attracting as much volunteer help as possible.
With studio artists lined up and classes underway, it's time to think about the great outdoors. Jamie Locke's planning singing and drum circles. Personally, I'd be thrilled to have Irish and bluegrass bands practicing and performing out in the back 40. As for theatre, can you imagine a Midsummer Night's Dream among the trees? Shakespeare in the park, community theatre, children's theatre. Contact me if you’re interested in starting something. [email protected]
