Throwback Thursday ❤️

Looking through these photos today brought back a lot of memories.

Grand Rapids was such an important part of our story. Leslie was living there, and after we got married, Keith followed from the South Haven area. We were figuring things out, and we were slowly discovering what music could become for us.

It started small. We sang, we connected with people, and we found so many ways to be part of the community.

One of the places that became part of that journey was Wealthy Theatre. The last time we were there was for Heart & Soul, a benefit for the Family Outreach Center That experience also reflected something that has stayed at the center of our work ever since—the belief that the arts can bring people together and help create important conversations around mental health and substance use disorders.

Looking at these pictures, so much has changed. We’ve changed. The work has grown. The stages have gotten bigger.

But the reason we do it hasn’t changed.

The foundation we built in Grand Rapids is still a part of who we are, and we are incredibly excited to come back to Wealthy Theatre on October 17th for DiscOh at the Wealthy Theater Grand Rapids

We can’t wait to see old friends, make new memories, and share another night of music and community in a place that means so much to us.

🔥 WE ARE STILL TRYING TO FIND THE WORDS FOR TODAY.

So maybe there’s only one word:

WOW.

Today, the Light It Up performers showed up with their passion, their ideas, their stories—and a willingness to learn and share their stories.

And what happened in that room?

Something bigger than we imagined started taking shape.

We laid the groundwork for a night that will be beautiful. Inspiring. Passionate. Moving. Hopeful. Loving.

A night about what happens when we choose to light it up.

When we find the courage to hope.
When we choose to love.
When we draw on our resilience.
When we let ourselves be inspired.
When we allow ourselves to feel.
And when we finally step into the light and share our story.

Because sometimes, lighting it up isn't about shining the brightest.

It's about finding your light—and having the courage to let someone else see it.
