Today, along with much of the arts and entertainment world, we grieve the loss of Dolly Parton. Not only a musician, actor, and business woman, Dolly was an educator who taught us the importance of both community and literacy through her Imagination Library Initiative.

Here's a throwback photo to our teaching artists Daniel A Martin and Spencer Elliott bringing Cory Doerfeld's "The Rabbit Listened" from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to life through interactive story dramatization for preschoolers.

"The Rabbit Listened" is a story that illustrates how children comfort their peers through big feelings when something bad happens, a lesson we all need today. In the story, the child Taylor learns that sometimes, when all the other emotions are spent, just having someone to talk to means the world.

RIP Dolly Parton, and thank you for your legacy of arts, literacy, and learning for our children
