Happy Saturday, everyone!

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday at 7pm for the Spooky Strings Concert! We can’t wait for a fun evening together!

While donations are completely optional, we’d like to focus on a few items if you’d like to donate:
-Chips
-Gluten- and allergy-friendly desserts
-Cases of water

Come out to visit the Orchestra booth at the No Tricks Just Treats event happening right now. Come in your scariest costumes or funniest faces. But if you don’t want to dress up, just come as you are. We want to see all of you. We will be here until 8pm.

Middle School and High School Cellist. There is still time to register for the Butler University Cello Day this Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Cello Day is a free event for cello players in 8th through 12th grade. All playing levels are welcome, but we do not recommend this event for total beginners. Participants will experience cello study at the Butler University School of Music with activities including:

-Technique class with Butler cello faculty
-Master class with special guest artis (see below!)
-Performance of Faculty and Butler Cello Ensemble
-Lunch with current cello majors
-and more!

When: Tomorrow; Thursday, September 17

Time: 2:30-5:00pm

Where: FCHS Parking Lot

Come help cover the flatbed trailer, decorate, or move speaker equipment!

We could still use decorations for our Homecoming Parade float!

Please send anything you don't need from the list below:
Tiki Torches, Leis, Grass Skirts, Pineapple-/Coconut-Related Decor, Palm Leaves
Inflatables: Palm Trees, Surf Boards, Crabs, Sharks?
Blue fringe and/or water decorations for the borders of the float.

And some 'Far Out' vibes, man.

Debut! Concert! Coming ...

Students have been working hard to prepare a diverse program, and it's nearly time to unveil this year's FC Strings!
Here's what you need to know:
When: TUESDAY, 15 September.
Time: 7pm
Where: FCHS Mason Auditorium
Free and Open to the Public!
Students will STAY AFTER SCHOOL for a dress rehearsal. We will feed them dinner!

FCHS Orchestras' expectation for concerts is that the audience will give EVERY performer equal respect and consideration. With this in mind, the following contains information about appropriate concert etiquette:

High School concerts are shorter than the ones in Middle School, and there is also plenty of space for students and audience members to hear ALL performances. Because of this, all orchestra students are required to attend the full concert.
Every student has worked equally hard, and each group has something special to offer to students and families alike. All students deserve an attentive, appreciative audience.

During concerts, NO TALKING!
No scrolling on phones. The main light in the room is - and should be - on the students on stage.
NO- Standing up and/or Walking Around.
Student selections are usually 3-5 minutes each. All of the above (talking, scrolling, standing up) should happen ONLY during applause between music.

You MAY absolutely film your student's performance, but please consider whether you are in someone else's way when doing so. An excellent filming location is the first row of the upper level, along the railing.

Student concert grades involve checking out after a concert with Dr Shonkwiler, and students who leave early will lose grade points.
All students are expected to assist in clearing the stage and putting chairs, stands and other equipment away after our concerts. Parents and family members are welcome to help speed up the process.

Thank you for helping to make your student's, classmate's, or fellow audience member's concert a night to remember! Student concert grades involve checking out after a concert with Dr Shonkwiler, and students who leave early will lose grade points.
