Lucille Lortel Award Ceremony; TL;DR
had been such a gift to be a part of. To work on a piece with a reminder that in community we can prevail any atrocities together.
Being in immigrant artist at this moment in time robs you of the joy to create. We are constantly asked to prove our worth of being in the country.
When I immigrated 15 years ago to study in the U.S. my mother gave me one of her favourite Thai Silk she owns and said “you’ll make something good with this”. Today the piece has been turned into this look for the Lortel Awards. In collaboration with 👔 tailored this look to the tea.
By wearing this piece of garment I feel like I am sharing the space with mom and honoring my heritage conjouring the presence of my ancestors to thank them for giving me this day.
Is an honor to work with good, cool, warm, crazy group of goats 🐐 🌵🏜️ and very special thanks to the producers .nyc
Cheers to all the nominees and winners it’s such a blessing to be sharing this moment with you.
