Kept it simple this week, needed a moment of peace. The sky the other day was so strange, full of lines and small clouds barely hanging on. Did my best to get it across. This one closes out September and marks the 3/4 point- 39 drawings down, 13 to go! It’s been nice out this week which makes me happy, maybe fall is finally on the way🍂

This one took two tries and I’m still not sure about it. Feeling kinda stuck. It’s been a weird, tired week. Just felt off for some reason. Work has been a little stressful lately. I ran outside in the rain on Thursday because I haven’t been to the gym in a minute and felt like I needed to get it out. We’ll shake it soon🌧️

Year is on its way out, but we’re keeping up. Bit of a change up with this one, but I like the way it came together. Last few had me feeling a little stuck since they ended up looking similar, so this one feels like a nice break. Brings peace and familiarity I think🌿

It’s been a bit of a long, tough week but we’ve made it through. Thankful for a day to relax and get the messy energy out with this one. Got some cold wax I’d like to try and incorporate in these, but I don’t have much of a plan formed yet. Think it would be cool to use to blur things out and create a kind of distance. I used it very sparingly here, but I think I’ve gotta just jump in with both feet and not worry about it.

“Torrid”

A quick midweek drawing. I usually use Ampersand Hardbord panels to do these drawings on, but I got ahold of a few of their Pastelbord panels to try out. I usually prime and gesso the hardbord panels with Golden pastel ground myself, but wanted to test out their prepared pastel panels. While it still got the job done, I think I prefer the toothier surface I get using the pastel ground than the lighter surface these offer. After an alcohol wash, the surface was much smoother than I usually work with making layering harder. While I always try to have panels prepared for each week, these will still be nice to have on hand to grab and go if need be.

Featured track this week is from Glass Animals “How to Be a Human Being” which is celebrating its 10th birthday today! Not what I was expecting from them initially, but this album really grew on me and has become a summer staple- giving off sweaty, rowdy late summer night vibes. Tried to give this quick drawing a similar feeling. We’ll be back at the end of the week for the regularly scheduled Sunday post, just wanted to pop in☀️

A long and rainy week🌧️

One of my most favorite new albums turned a year old this past week, so it’s the featured track this time around. I always put music to these posts and I’m not sure how many people notice- it’s usually what I’m listening to while working on the drawing🐟
