Appeal for Book Scholarship Help!

A recent survey conducted by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group found that 65 percent of college students have at some point decided against buying a college textbook due to its high price. Of that group, nearly all (94 percent) had concerns that their decision not to buy the book would affect their grades and nearly half reported that the cost of textbooks, not course importance, influenced their choice of how many or which classes to take. Destiny believes that no student should have to choose between a great course and a good meal!

But rising educational expenses are putting many students in that very position. In fact, college textbook prices have jumped three times the rate of inflation over the past decade! That’s why our organization has, for nearly 20 years, been standing in the gap as a source of scarce book scholarships for needy students. But in the face of continuous and growing need, our small agency struggles each year to do more with less. We urgently need your help this year to meet the need! You can make a big difference with even a small donation.
