My studio

This is a guilty pleasure painting for me. Favorite colors, contrast, long shadows and other elements I find visually appealing. This is a large oil painting (48x60 inches). When the weather turns, I want to be able to look at this and feel like I could walk into the scene.

This is a photo of a mixed media art piece, hanging in my livingroom.

My son is a talented artist. He is a tattoo artist by trade. I asked him to help me with this project. We upcycled another framed piece that was stencilled dulled mountains.
We turned the thick parchment paper over. Did dotting and spraying in water colors. Once that dried, he painted the tree branches. We added white for contrast. I then painted and glittered some artificial flower petals and used double stick picture mounts under the flowers to afix them. Lastly, Sean painted the Orioles on thick watercolor paper. Once they were dry, I fussy cut them and glued them to the painting. If you look very closely, the name of this wallart is written on a branch. "I See Trees Of Green.."

I love to paint abstracts and this one just flowed out of my fingertips! I love using brighter colors and varying the saturation to make the painting more interesting. It's watercolor on cotton paper, that's all I use in my art.

I have always been attracted to contrast and shadows. This orchid that is in my home is in the perfect spot for morning light. I have several pictures of it and finally decided to paint it. This oil painting is 20x24 inches.
