Look who's coming to the circle! It's Jessamyn Smith, Hoosier pastel painter. Jessamyn creates soft, dreamy pastel paintings. Here's her story:
My dad put a pencil in my hand from age 4 and my mom was my biggest cheerleader. I have always loved art. But after selling out in college to study engineering, I renewed my interest in art after about a 12 year hiatus, and now creating every day is like the need to breathe. I enjoy focusing on dreamy pastel landscapes.

Look who's coming to the Circle! It's Beth Simpson, Hoosier polymer clay artist. Here's the description of her art:
My work explores the color, pattern, and precision possible through polymer clay. Using techniques adapted from traditional millefiori, I construct intricate canes—bundles of colored clay arranged into patterns that reveal detailed images when sliced. Each design is built by hand, layer by layer, combining colors and shades to create floral, geometric, and nature-inspired pieces.
Once completed, the canes are reduced, sliced, and assembled into functional and decorative objects including jewelry, vases, bowls, belt buckles, barrettes, bird houses, plant misters, pens, and seam rippers. Every surface pattern originates within the clay itself rather than being painted or applied afterward. As such, my art most aligns with clay and jewelry categories.

Just a friendly reminder to all artists of Monument Circle Art Fair:
You will never be called a vendor, you will always be called an artist. You will never receive an urgent message from me saying that because of cancellations we have a few spots left. You will never be asked to send money to any email or website other than www.monumentcircleart.org. Even then the only money sent is your app fee and your booth fee.

I am quite fed up with the many scammers who attempt to impersonate me as the coordinator of this event. Not only am I impersonated, but the event itself is made to look like a cheap vendor event. It's a shame there are dishonest people who have nothing better to do than try to get money by posing as me.

I am so excited about this year's show, and so impressed by the quality of the artists who are participating. It is going to be a wonderful event. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We're in this together.

Look who's coming to the Circle! It's Brit Ritchie, Hoosier botanical painter!
Britt Ritchie’s artwork is layered, painterly compositions (in both oil and occasional acrylic) that blend botanical impressions with bold graphic elements. Using viscous and transparent layers, texture, and controlled color palettes, she balances spontaneity and deliberate composition to create depth, light, and harmonious abstracted botanical scenes that invite reflection and visual warmth.

Look who's coming to the Circle! Kim Proctor, of Proctor Woodcraft. This is how she describes her art:
Working primarily in hardwoods, I create functional art that celebrates the natural beauty of wood through thoughtful design, precision craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Each piece begins with carefully selected domestic and exotic hardwoods chosen for their distinctive grain, color, and character. Rather than concealing these natural variations, I use them as integral elements of the design, allowing the wood itself to become part of the artwork.

My work ranges from cutting and serving boards to perpetual calendars, clocks, cutting boards, kitchen utensils, jewelry, and decorative inlay pieces. Every item is individually designed, milled, assembled, shaped, and finished in my shop in Brown County. I enjoy combining contrasting species, geometric compositions, and clean contemporary lines to create pieces that are both visually striking and built for everyday use.

My goal is to elevate ordinary household objects into heirloom-quality works of art—pieces that invite use while showcasing the warmth, beauty, and timeless appeal of fine woodworking.

My work specializes in nature, showing how creation thrives. I specialize in photographing the memories and moments of peoples' lives, specifically in the Deaf community. Deaf empowerment means shining through all aspects of life, especially through the life of a lens.

It took me 62 years to show my art, and is has been a wonderful journey. I paint with acrylics on canvas, mostly florals. My art is affordable for all. I believe that everyone should be able to have quality art in their homes.
