Ok folks, the day is finally here. Today we put the 2020 Dumpster Fire to rest for good!!! Our final locations (and your final opportunity to tag the dumpster) will be today from 10am-5:30 pm at The Magic Candle at the corner of Audubon and Bonna, and from 6pm till midnight on the 5800 block of Julian Ave.
If you're headed out today for that final grocery store trip of the year, keep in mind that we will be collecting non-perishables such as canned vegetables, instant and canned soups, canned meats (tuna, sandwich spreads), coffee, instant hot chocolate, etc for Gaia Works. Gaia Works, a non-denominational nonprofit, provides year-round support for seniors in need in our neighborhood, supplying weekly bags of food to individuals. The community is invited to donate items at the Magic Candle, 203 S. Audubon from 10am-5:30pm on Dec 31st. Currently, there are 15 seniors and several families seeking help.
In addition to human food, Gaia Works is collecting pet items for seniors and local pet centers. Seniors with pets have a difficult time affording food for their cats or dogs. Dry or wet dog and cat food, pet treats, water and food bowl, grooming tools, cat litter, and pet beds, flea shampoo for dogs and flea treatment medicine for cats are needed for the pantry.
If you don't want to shop and would like to donate, monetary donations can be dropped off at The Magic Candle or go to www.gaiaworksincrp.org and click the donate button.
