Great evening with a wonderful panel of conservationists from around the world, hosted by Dr. Rob Shumaker, President of the Indianapolis Zoological Society.

The Indianapolis Zoo has partnered with the IUCN Species Survival Commission to create the Global Center for Species Survival. Go to the links in my bio to find the website. We are so proud of our zoo and their conservation efforts.

Final painting for Naturally Inspired Paint Out 2023. 21 artists painted en Plein air today at the zoo to a huge crowd. The weather was perfect.

All paintings will be auctioned off in august to benefit the zoo. You can register on line and bid on line from the zoo web site. Indianapoliszoo.com

Day 21

Part 3 of Jack & Coke. Might need to tweak the JD label when dry but going for impressionistic style not realism.

Day 21

Jack and Coke part 2. Not much time to paint these days so this will have a part 3. Worked on the coke bottle tonight. Still don’t have shape quite right. Like the shape of the whiskey bottle but that label is a killer, it’s only going to have a hint of the text on the label. I thought I wanted the space between the two bottles so I could see the Jack bottle shadow with its high chrome reflection. But now I think it looks awkward. We’ll see it works in the end.

I bought a bag of various onions — white, yellow and red so I thought hey, let’s paint some onions. I was going to do one red one, they’re so gorgeous but these onions were all small. So all 3 for some interest

If you’ve never eaten these you’ve got to try them. They’re in season now. My youngest daughter prefers clementines but I prefer these!

Day 16

I’m exhausted, moving all my art supplies from my studio back into my home studio. Lots of back breaking cleaning, furniture re-arranging, touring crates, boxes, frames and canvases. Not an ideal time for a daily painting challenge. But I’m persevering but creating some real mediocre art. Every time you paint however is a learning experience. I’m enjoying the accomplishment of painting every day so that’s all that matters to me.
