Christen Baker is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is grounded in glass. Her work uses glass as a site of translation, moving from digital capture into physical making to examine how environments are shaped by mediation and systems of visibility. Using photography, 3D scanning, and image extraction, she produces glass and neon works that generate physical and tactile forms of data. She Earned her MFA in Glass from Tyler School of Art and Architecture, and her BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Craft and Design (San Francisco), UrbanGlass (Brooklyn), and Crane Arts (Philadelphia). She lives and works in Indianapolis and is a Long-Term Artist-in-Residence at the Contemporary Art Museum of Indianapolis (CAMi) and was most recently Awarded the McPherson-Wortley Emerging Artist Award with the Glass Art Society.
Christen has been working in glass for 9 years, but exclusively with hot glass processes for 4 years. She likes to make blown glass mirrors, and small sculpted components for larger works using glass.
