Dearest Creepsters,
We have some news to share.
While this communication is a day late and a dollar short, we want to share that we are taking an indefinite hiatus, effective immediately.
Our goal has consistently been to provide a space where people feel comfortable being themselves and showcasing their art in whatever capacity that means to them, more often and more recently through the burlesque medium.
At this time, the production staff needs to take a step back to reassess and ensure we are doing our best to carry this goal forward while also curating a welcoming, positive experience for performers and patrons alike.
Performers deserve to be paid, respected and have seats full of butts with people hooting and hollaring (and hopefully tipping).
Patons deserve a welcoming safe space to embrace art, be themselves, encourage friends and new performers and share space with other people doing the same.
At this time, we don’t feel we can deliver our best, and that’s what you all deserve.
We hope this isn’t goodbye, but if it is, we would really like to thank you from the bottom of our black hearts for your continued support, encouragement, patronage, and involvement over the years.
This, Creepin’ It Burly (CIB, if ya nasty), started in April 2020 during the height of the pandemic out of Dorothy’s search to create a space where the misfits have a spot at the table. The misfits of the Midwest grew from there.
Of course, there were growing pains, several… and many learning opportunities.
But at the end of the day, sometimes doing your best isn’t enough.
Anyway, if we see you around, and we hope to, we’d love to share space at another production.
