She Lives!
While I try to keep the posts on this page related to my art and art related content I am just recovering from a life altering experience. While on my first trip abroad since the pandemic I became ill. Unable to eat or drink. Had to cut my trip short and return to the US and directly from the plane to the ER in Portland. Within a few hours of touching down a CT scan revealed large tumors growing on and blocking my intestine. Surgery followed immediately for removal and resection. A week in the hospital. Recovery has been slow and tedious but my pathology showed the tumors were benign and were not elsewhere in my body. Now onto figuring out how to keep them from returning.
A time like this shows you what kind of friends and family you are surrounded by. Thank you to all those who brought delicious meals and sent beautiful flowers. My family felt loved and cared for at a very stressful and scary time. Each call, text, card and prayer was so so appreciated even if I was unable to respond directly, I cherished every interaction. It made me feel so much less alone. You all lifted me up and gave me strength. A shoutout to the nurses and doctors who took amazing care of me and saved my life. I now will try to heal and focus on preparing for my events in 2024. Desert Open Studios in January followed by a turn as the guest artist at the Sandstone Gallery in Laguna Beach for the month of February. I’m sure preparing for these events will be a healing process and I will never, ever take for granted the gift of making art and sharing it with others. Details about these shows on my website under the events tab.
I will look forward to moving from “She Lives” to “She Thrives.”
