It’s okay to take your time with challenges👍👍 I’m enjoying the exploration of pen and ink ❤️

There is much to celebrate about my work here, and some not so celebratory, but let’s focus on the positive. Dividing this 4x4 cm tile, diagonally (bottom left to too right) makes me giddy inside😁🎉🎉🎉 Sure, a skilled pen & ink artist can see the unnecessary, time wasted detail, but I see beauty and depth 😁

Petrykivka art is so relaxing!!

When you’re painting on a darker background, adding a layer of white paint first will create vibrancy 👍 I’ve been dabbling in Petrykivka art for a couple of years now. In general, folk art is appealing to me. I think it’s the color and elegance of brush strokes ☺️

My favorite Petrykivka artist is .ca 😁 She offers amazing classes, and how-to booklets that are more affordable.

In early Spring, this chunky Dark-Eyed Junco feasted on sunflower seeds in our yard. I think it’s female, but certainly shouldn’t be this bright blue, an indicator that I still have a lot if work to do in combining colors 😝

To be fair, the photo is more of a lavender bluish-gray, so I tried 😝 But, check out that mossy texture! 😁😎

In the spirit of letting go of perfectionism embracing my mistakes. This chirrup looks nearly like the photograph taken by Kat Ferrari, with the exception of the feet—the enormous feet! But I’m calling it done after four attempts of getting them in the right proportion. I think its big feet are endearing 😍

I’ve working on this little beauty taught by Bonny this week. It’s the perfect lesson to learn how to draw metal and leather using colored pencils 👍

I am only halfway through the tutorial, but loving both the outcome and class so far!

This fluffy fox is from Bonny Snowdon’s Ignite club ❤️ I’ve been a member nearly a year and a half, and I’ve learned so much!

I’m starting to trust what I see when I draw and about colors too! I’m actually feeling more confident about taking commissions, if that is the route I choose to go as an artist.

This piece of art is validation, validation that anyone can learn to draw if they want to and have a growth mindset. It’s the same with my BA degree. I started out in my “mature” years as a C student, and finished my degree with Honors. True, you have to want it bad enough and believe in yourself, but without a growth mindset, the challenges you meet along the way can be destructive to your journey.

Here’s to more of my journey🥂 that’s a non-alcoholic beverage 😝
