What do we hope kids learn in the studio?
Honestly, it has very little to do with making a perfect piece of art.
We hope they learn to trust their ideas—even the wild ones.
We hope they learn that creativity isn’t about getting it right the first time.
We hope they discover that mistakes can become something beautiful.
We hope they learn to take risks, solve problems, and believe in themselves.
Every day, we’re amazed by the things children create when they’re given the freedom to explore. The dragons with six legs. The upside-down houses. The mugs with 14 handles. The ideas adults would never think of.
And that’s exactly why we love having kids in the studio.
Because art isn’t just teaching children how to make things—it’s teaching them that their ideas matter.
The pottery, paintings, and sculptures are wonderful. But watching a child gain confidence in their own creativity? That’s the real masterpiece.

This started as a sketch, then it came to life in clay. 

Whenever I design a piece, I always think about the end — the home it will live in, the flowers it might hold, the quiet little corner it will become part of. My goal is always timeless beauty: simple pieces that enhance a space instead of overpowering it.

LONG POST ALERT: When I opened Seagrass Pottery in 2019, I listened to every episode of How I Built This. Some of them more than once. In the shower (over sharing), I would pretend I was being interviewed by Guy Raz. I dreamed of a studio filled with creative people and shelves filled with handmade work.

Today, I made it onto their Advice Line. Hearing Guy Raz say “Seagrass Pottery” was surreal enough, but then he called our pottery beautiful and encouraged us to scale. Truly mind blowing.

If I’m being honest, a little piece of my heart is in every piece we make. Promoting our work has always felt vulnerable to me, and sometimes I still feel a little insecure sharing it. But now Guy Raz & Chieh Huang of Boxed said to do it…so it must be done. Thank you & Chieh Huang!

So incredibly grateful for the opportunity, the advice, and this community that has supported this dream from the very beginning. Thank you for helping make this dream come true.

From our hands to your home. We are loving black clay dipped in our signature Seagrass White — giving toasted marshmallow, soft neutrals, and the kind of vase that somehow makes every stem look perfectly picked. Honestly, one of my most favorite pieces (until tomorrow). But come shop our vases Sunday ! I’ll be there 10am-2pm!
