Ilion Little Theater Club

Ilion Little Theater Club Ilion Little Theatre provides the Mohawk Valley with high quality live entertainment by presenting several major productions every year.

We also give the area’s residents the opportunity to be involved in the rewarding world of amateur theater. The Ilion Little Theatre is located in the historic "Re*****on Stables." It is a large two story brick structure built about 1870 as part of the Re*****on Mansion complex. The mansion was demolished about 1930. It consists of three connecting masses: a two story, square central block; a thre

e story, engaged tower; and a one and one half story rear wing. When built, the tower had a pagoda roof, but it was removed in the 1930s. The stable building was purchased by the Ilion Little Theatre Club in 1927, adapted for use as a theater and has been used for more than 80 years by the Group.

What a wonderful evening at the Ilion Little Theatre!

Tonight, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica for an exclusive "Walk & Talk" event. Guests kicked off the night with delicious refreshments and a guided tour of our historic theatre space.

The highlight of the evening was a captivating slideshow presentation by George Lyon, who took everyone on a journey through the rich history and exciting current happenings of the theatre.

Thank you to Steve Grant, Dianne Nassar, Michael Bosak, and everyone from the Landmarks Society who joined us and made it such an enjoyable evening of history, community, and the arts! ✨

It was a beautiful evening for Ilion’s Annual Doo Dah Parade. Many thanks to the Hale Family for letting Ilion Little Theatre use their truck and trailer for our float, and thank you to the Senior YAW members who helped decorate, joined us on the float and handed out goodies along the parade route — it was a lot of fun! ❤️🎭

We know it’s early, but a story this big can’t be kept a secret!

While we are incredibly excited for our upcoming season, we are giving our community an exclusive, far-advanced sneak peek at a major theatrical event landing on our stage in October 2027. Ilion Little Theatre will be bringing you the hit musical Come From Away.

Based on a remarkable true story, the show takes you to the day after September 11, 2001, when 38 commercial planes were unexpectedly forced to land in a tiny, remote town. Overnight, the local residents housed, fed, and comforted 7,000 stranded strangers from around the globe. This fast-paced, deeply moving musical features a high-energy folk-rock score and celebrates the incredible power of human kindness when the world needs it most.

It may be over a year away, but we promise this unforgettable production will be well worth the wait!

Beginning back in 2023, this massive undertaking was broken down into three stages to ensure the long-term structural integrity of our beloved historic building. Thanks to this completed work, we can now look forward to many more decades of bringing live theatre and the performing arts to the Mohawk Valley without worrying about the elements.

Additionally this year, the tower foundation was structurally stabilized with necessary grading to divert water. We are now focusing on the major task of re-pointing the tower itself.

This achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of our community. Whether you donated during our fundraisers, attended our shows, or helped spread the word, your support has been the backbone of this preservation effort. We are deeply appreciated for everything you do to keep our arts culture thriving.

While our roof is secure and our tower foundation stabilized, our commitment to our historic home at 13 Re*****on Avenue doesn’t stop here. We will continue further preservation and maintenance efforts so that live theatre can continue to enrich our community for generations to come. Thank you once again for your unwavering support. We cannot wait to see you at our next performance!

The historical status of the Ilion Little Theatre means that any repairs to the building must be respective to the property’s historic character, adding to the complication and cost of such repairs. We rely on the proceeds from our regular season to cover production costs and the day-to-day operating expenses which leaves very little left over. We will continue to offer special fundraising activities and explore grant funding opportunities, but we need your continued generosity and support.
